POSITION SUMMARY:
Manages all assigned supplies and equipment in the ED.
Performs minor wound cleansing, splint application, wound dressing under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, and as defined on the ED unit specific competency skills checklist.
Competently operates patient monitoring equipment and records rhythm strips.
Assists with patient care duties, vital signs, bathing, triaging patients, data entry as directed by a licensed nurse.
Performs phlebotomy, collects laboratory specimens as ordered and inserts saline lock according to protocol.
Runs 12 lead ECGs, biomarkers and glucometer readings on patients as directed by nurse.
Assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
Maintains clear and respectful communications with patients, family, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
Transports patients to Radiology or inpatient nursing unit utilizing appropriate transport and monitoring equipment.
Assumes responsibility for remaining current on job-related knowledge and skills and ongoing education/inservice/credentialing/certification/licensure requirements.
Appropriately documents all interventions in a clear and legible manner in patients medical record under the supervision of the licensed nurse.
Adheres to and complies with HCA's ethics and compliance policies and procedures in the Code of Conduct. Attends annual training sessions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience: One year experience as EMT or Paramedic
Education: Current Certification as EMT or Paramedic
Special Qualifications:
Current CPR certification
ACLS & PALS preferred
NVCI preferred
Current Registry with the Texas Dept. of Health and/or the National Registry of EMT/Paramedic
Able to deal with stressful situations and able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to interact well with patients and peers
Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for meeting the age-specific needs of the patients assigned in the ED
