About This Role:
The Education Abroad Advisor provides guidance and outstanding professional service to students before, during, and after their educational experience abroad. The Advisor provides information to students, parents, faculty, and staff regarding various study abroad programs and coordinates with relevant academic and administrative offices. The Advisor also assists with coordinating program and application processes, and participates in campus recruitment and promotion, as well as participant selection.
The Education Abroad Advisor works with overseas partners to obtain information regarding application processes, course selection, arrival information, accommodation, and other relevant information. Some national and international travel is expected.

The Office of International Programs was established in 1986 to strengthen communication and coordination among K-State's many international programs, to achieve identified strategic planning goals for the university's further internationalization, and to provide a focal point for external international contacts and agreements.
K-State is currently engaged in over 50 exchange programs with foreign institutions around the globe.
The OIP plays a prominent role in the internationalization of faculty, departments and colleges, student programs, faculty/staff development, curriculum development, and area studies at K-State.
The OIP works with the International Activities Council and the colleges to identify avenues for international growth and development within the university and community. The units within the Office of International Programs provide primary support for both incoming international students, faculty and researchers and for students, faculty and researchers going abroad.
K-State's student body is now 9.1 percent international students, which gives our university an essential component to make our students globally competent. Our students come from 103 countries. While international students experience our campus they also provide global perspectives to classroom discussions, expand our research connections, create cultural awareness among our students, and help engage students to experience other countries and cultures.

What You'll Need to Succeed: Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree
Two years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in a field related to International Education or Student Services
Experience working with multiple, ongoing projects and activities in a fast-paced environment
Experience communicating with people from a variety of cultures
Significant experience abroad (ex: study, intern, volunteer, or work)
Experience counseling, teaching, or working with students, preferably in higher education
Experience with Study Abroad or Academic Advising
Faculty-led/study abroad program management experience
Experience with student recruitment and campus outreach initiatives
Ability to communicate in at least one language in addition to English
Experience with Terra Dotta or other online application management systems
Experience in public speaking and training
Demonstrated knowledge of the various aspects of international travel (passports, visas, geography, languages spoken, currency, politics, modes of travel, etc.)
Other Requirements:

Must be able to travel, national and international.
