Acorn Hill Waldorf Kindergarten and Nursery in Silver Spring, Maryland is seeking a full day teacher who will be an assistant teacher in the morning and become a lead teacher in the afternoon for the school year 23/24, beginning mid-August of 2023.

We are an outdoor Waldorf preschool on five wooded acres outside, but near, the city of Washington, D. C. Our ideal candidate will have an understanding of Waldorf pedagogy, early childhood education training and teaching experience. Enthusiasm for the value of working outdoors with children is essential, as is a commitment to working collegially. This position is Monday-Friday from 11am to 3 pm or 11 am-6 pm. Additional hours for weekly faculty meetings, and for training weeks beginning mid-August of 2023 are part of the position as well.

All employees must meet Maryland State and Montgomery County licensing requirements. This includes the 90 hour Early Childhood training course, or the equivalent in college credits as well as other required training for health and safety. In addition, a candidate will need to pass a background check, including fingerprinting, and must possess the legal right to work in the United States.

Our ideal candidates have some understanding of Waldorf pedagogy, early childhood education training, and teaching experience, and possess a love and commitment to being outdoors with children.
