Job description
The Massachusetts Youth Diversion Program aims to reduce the likelihood of future offending by the youth in the program and increase public safety; support positive youth development; promote and ensure equity in the process; and, hold youth responsible for their actions. Through use of evidence-based assessments, the Diversion Coordinator evaluates the referred youth’s prioritized needs and develops an agreement and case plan.
This position serves as the main point of contact for youth in diversion, their families, service providers and diversion referrers in the Greater Lowell, MA area.
Salary: $63,000-68,000
Essential Functions:
Meets with youth referred to the diversion program and their families and explains the diversion process and expectations.
Conducts intake, which includes interviewing youth and their family and conducting a risks/needs assessment.
Develops an individualized, evidence-based case plan and Diversion agreement.
Meets with youth at a pre-determined frequency in the community or at other approved locations.
Provides case management services to youth throughout the diversion process, connecting to local services, monitoring progress and working to eliminate barriers.
Communicates with other system stakeholders and service providers across the communities served.
Qualifications/Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or a related field OR Associate’s degree with 2+ years of direct experience required.
Master’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or a related field preferred.
Experience working with at-risk youth required.
Experience with community and home-based services preferred.
Bilingual; preferably Spanish, Vietnamese, or Khmer, in addition to English
Driver’s license and access to a car required.
Capacity to work flexible hours.
