Position Overview:
This position is responsible for supporting the overall operation of our client’s DSCADA system responsible for monitoring and controlling the electrical grid. Support includes troubleshooting of data issues, database updating, and day-to-day maintenance of the DSCADA system. Support will include the day-to-day needs of Control Center Operations and other end users. It is a requirement that supporting the DSCADA real-time operations will include off hours support as part of an on-call rotation. The candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with EMS (Energy Management System) and OMS (Outage Management System) personnel to update the ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) on a weekly basis.
- Provide day-to-day DSCADA support by effectively responding to the needs of control room operating staff, field personnel, and other end users.
- Application monitoring and support for the DSCADA environment.
- Actively participate in support and troubleshooting problems in all aspects of the DSCADA system, and specifically data quality issues including:
- Data quality and consistency issues for the near real-time updating of DSCADA.- Data mapping between the existing EMS environment and the DSCADA system.
- Data mapping between the DSCADA system and the ADMS/OMS environment.
Experience:
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits and diagrams
- Knowledge of SQL programming language a plus
- Basic understanding of networking infrastructure and protocols including Routers, Switches, Hubs, TCP/IP, Firewalls and SNMP is a plus
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or other technical discipline
- Three or more years of prior experience with EMS / SCADA systems in a transmission or distribution utility setting
- Experienced in the implementation and maintenance of large-scale SCADA systems running on a major vendor platform: GE, OSII, ABB, AVEVA (Schneider), Siemens, etc...
- Ability to collaboratively resolve problems and communicate effectively across organizational structure.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings
- Remote, but could be up to 30% travel within North America
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
