The University of Miami/UHealth Medical Finance has an exciting opportunity for a Director, Accounting. The Director directs and oversees the General Accounting functions for UHealth/MSOM and ensures compliance with organizational policies and GAAP. Furthermore, the Director, Accounting - Medical Finance works closely with the Executive Director, UHealth Accounting, Healthcare and Medical System to meet all month-end financial statement reporting and analytic requirements and deadlines.

Oversees the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management reconciliation and balance sheet management. Oversees the collection, organization, analysis, and evaluation of complex financial data and information in preparation of required internal and external financial records, reports, and statistics. Provides technical accounting GAAP guidance and support to all company entities. Directs preparation of accounting/management reports and ensures are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance. Involved in validating/designing suggested changes to ensure accounting requirements continue to be met. Evaluates technical accounting issues and makes appropriate recommendation for system mapping. Assesses ongoing accounting operations for continuous improvement and best practice opportunities with appropriate recommendations to departmental leadership. Develops, reviews, and revises department policies and procedures and assists leadership in effective implementation. Coordinates work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records. Ensures the Medical Finance department is staffed with qualified financial personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities. Responsible for continued development of these associates. Mentors and trains staff members to ensure appropriate work procedures, methods, and internal controls are followed.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field

Experience:

Minimum 7 years of relevant experience

Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
