About the Director, Platform Engineering at Headspace Health:

In this role you will join a cross-functional team focusing on creating the tools and frameworks that allow engineers to build and release quickly, free of unnecessarily complicated technical processes and inefficiencies, while creating a scalable, reliable, and maintainable platform that fosters future growth and expansion.

Reporting to the VP of Internal Engineering, you'll be working on a product that impacts more than 65M users. You will help us bring new features to life to meet our mission, while also helping push our platform to newer technologies as we embrace the cutting edge. How your skills and experience will come to life at Headspace Health:

  • Develop, drive and execute a long term vision and strategy for API and Mobile platforms to be leveraged by all product engineering teams.
  • Drive the internal Platform Tools strategy and improve our Content publishing pipelines, Experimentation & A/B testing capabilities, Customer engagement platforms etc.
  • Drive architecture, high-level & detailed technical designs and conduct code reviews as needed.
  • Research, champion proof of concepts and introduce new technologies to the team.
  • Set and support a culture of metrics driven Quality, with efficient processes and strong transparency.
  • Be responsible for collaborating with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to align on OKRs and shorter-term execution plans.
  • Manage engineering teams in US, South America and Europe, and inspire the team to deliver against aggressive OKRs

What you've accomplished:

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering work experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on technical people management experience leading teams of 40+ engineers.
  • Deep, hands-on technical expertise in distributed, orchestrated, containerized, microservice based architectures.
  • Experience working with mobile development.
  • Been actively involved in setting an internal tooling strategy.
  • Experience working in products that have a large global reach with high scaling needs.
  • Led teams through complex multi month projects with clear goals, deliverables, measurements, and milestones.
  • Ability to thrive in a startup (fast-paced, agile) environment.
  • Actively coached and mentored Sr. Managers and principal level individual contributors.
  • BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience.
