BASIC FUNCTION

Coordinate campus-wide efforts related to student persistence and retention with a focus on data collection and analysis. Provide leadership and direct all aspects of the Title III project.


CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop an annual retention plan using resources from across the university to create an actionable set of student success, engagement, and persistence measures.
  • Track, in real time, activities across the campus related to overall retention strategies and inform campus leadership of any changes necessary.
  • Work with other campus departments to develop, implement, and assess a variety of data-driven student success and retention efforts.
  • Coordinate with university and system-wide IR personnel to collect, maintain, and analyze data related to student retention and persistence.
  • Coordinate with the Center for Teaching & Learning in recommending professional development opportunities for faculty and staff geared at increasing student persistence.
  • Attend professional development to remain current in the field.
  • Approve Title III expenditures, ensure fiscal accountability
  • Ensure evaluation activities are appropriately executed
  • Represent the Title III project to the NVU community and others
  • Monitor Title III implementation progress and timeline
  • Ensure U.S. Department of Education policies, procedures and schedules are adhered to, including annual performance and financial reports

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Supervision is received from the Provost.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree in appropriate discipline, plus minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, particularly in improving student retention and experiential learning. Experience leading college-wide initiatives is preferred.

  • Strong research, writing and computer skills.
  • Strong sense of professionalism.
  • Ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of individuals inside and outside of the university and capacity to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent planning, organizational and administrative skills.
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills.
