Director of Consumer Lending
XCEL Federal Credit Union is a $200 million financial institution located in Bloomfield, NJ, serving individuals, families and businesses in New York, New Jersey and around the country with exceptional financial products, operating on the premise that everything we do should be in the best interest of our members. XCEL FU is currently seeking an experienced Lending Manager to join our team.
The Director of Consumer Lending will report directly to the COO and will lead our lending team as they work in the best interest of our members and provide solutions to help them achieve financial success. They will collaborate with others on the XCEL Federal Credit Union team to drive the strategic initiatives of the organization.
The Director of Consumer Lending will provide leadership in Lending Services and will have the ability to motivate and coach employees to ensure that team goals are met.
MUST HAVE DIRECT CONSUMER LENDING EXEPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED. HOME EQUITY LOAN EXPERIENCE IS A MUST.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coach staff on how to implement and develop action plans to obtain their goals.
- Approve loans within the parameters approved by the Board of Directors.
- Oversee Underwriting, Mortgage CUSO, Processing, Closing and Servicing.
- Manage Auto, Credit Card, Consumer, First Mortgage/Home Equity Programs.
- Determine work priorities of subordinate staff; schedule work assignments; train and evaluate performance; and provide ongoing recognition, mentoring, and coaching.
- Manage third-party vendor relationships as they pertain Lending.
- Review and improve current lending products and/or implement new lending products to maximize loan growth.
- Develop Loan Policy, and other policies as they pertain to the Lending Department.
- Prepare management reports such as they pertain to the Lending Departments.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws/regulations.
- Resolve policy issues identified internally or by examiners.
- Resolve complex and sensitive customer service issues.
- Ensure team consistently delivers excellent customer service to members, while cultivating an environment that concentrates on the members' needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Expectations:
- Provide outstanding service to internal and external members as defined by our service standards.
- To insure departmental goals (established in conjunction with the COO) are met.
- To insure that all approved loans comply with established policies and regulations.
- To complete performance reviews within the prescribed time frame.
- To maintain knowledge of all consumer, mortgage, credit card, and commercial products and rates, both within the credit union and from the industry overall.
- To hire, direct and motivate a highly qualified staff sufficient to meet the daily operational needs of the department.
- To provide management with accurate timely reports as requested.
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience: Five to Seven years of similar or related experience. Credit Union experience highly desired, will consider bank experience as well.
- Education: A college degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
Other Skills:
- Knowledge of the secondary market and experience with first and second mortgage residential real estate lending; and consumer lending.
- Must have demonstrated track record.
- Must have expert knowledge of NCUA, Federal and banking regulations.
- Must have superior written and spoken communication and supervisory skills
- Interpersonal and soft skills required.
- Must have working knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing software; be able to use PC and general office equipment including 10-key calculator.'
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED ONSITE IN THE BLOOMFIELD OFFICE.
