SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Construction will specialize in our QSR and retail/commercial sector. This role will be responsible for the management of The Siegel Group’s new construction projects, remodels, and tenant improvements. Qualified candidates must have working knowledge and verifiable experience working in fast-paced restaurant and commercial construction, knowledge of all construction disciplines and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee site entitlement and due diligence effort for multiple new construction and remodeling projects within the company’s QSR and retail/commercial portfolio of assets.
- Assist in defining the scope, objectives and budgeting of construction projects
- Manage all aspects of the due diligence process, including but not limited to feasibility studies, geotechnical evaluations and more.
- Manage all dates and processes within a project, ensuring the project progresses as anticipated, including but not limited to critical dates within development agreements, leases, purchase agreements, permitting and construction.
- Lead and manage network of engineers, architects and other consultants in guiding each project through its governmental approvals processes to obtain all entitlements, permits and approvals required for the project.
- Project oversight of multiple construction projects through each phase of design, pre-construction, construction execution and ultimate handover to operations.
- Oversee the daily construction and repair activities at all work sites to include scheduling of assigned personnel and sub-contractors, delivery of materials, and project progress.
- Interface and communicate with senior management on progress of projects. Partner with them to resolve strategic issues that arise.
- Direct the successful closeout of projects including final close-out negotiations with all consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years of commercial construction and development experience in an owner/developer or commercial developer firm focused on ground-up construction, repositioning and tenant improvements for various retail spaces, with a primary emphasis on quick service restaurants or food & beverage.
- Thorough technical knowledge of all aspects of commercial building and construction and strong working knowledge of Nevada building requirements preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, architecture or engineering strongly preferred.
- Excellent computer skills and demonstrated working knowledge of computers and software including MS Project for management and Excel for budgets and spreadsheets.
- Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and verbal communication skills to write memos, letters and reports, and interact effectively with contractors, tenants, peers, vendors and management.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities while staying focused and meeting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and perform in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
