Summary: The Certification Program Director is responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring processes and procedures that support certification and recertification activities. This position oversees the development of an automated and secure system that verifies completion of pre- and post-training requirements and supervises staff providing end user support.

Location: Remote

Anticipated salary: $90,000 Extended experience: up to $107,000 if experience exceeds expectations

Principal Functions:

  • Organize, maintain, and verify all aspects of the certification process for prospective chronic disease training program participants.

  • Manage the online, live, and hybrid training opportunities, along with the associated assessment process of the certification program.

  • Prepare and share complete and accurate documentation to program stakeholders, to include correspondence, reports, and presentations in written and verbal formats.

  • Develop and document program policies and standard operating procedures.

  • Educate, inform, and update program participants, staff, and stakeholders of certification program policies and procedures.

  • Oversee the documentation of the certification process, to include the maintenance of accurate files for each participant and aggregated database.

  • Maintain the highest level of participant and stakeholder care while demonstrating a friendly and cooperative attitude.

  • Collaborate with external partners and ASTHO staff to establish and implement program continuous improvement measures.

  • Serve as a liaison between program participants and ASTHO partners.

  • Develop, maintain, and deliver an onboarding process for new trainers and training facilities.

  • Study, learn, retain, and apply subject matter knowledge related to administration of the accredited certification program

  • Collect, analyze, and maintain a database for program participants and stakeholders.

  • Manage the response to inquiries regarding program participant certification status.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in business, education, public health, or related field

  • 5+ years’ experience in a professional or trade association focused on certification programs or equivalent

  • 2+ years’ database management experience

  • Direct certification program and exam process management experience

Specific skills needed:

  • Excellent written/oral communication skills with a positive mindset.

  • Demonstratable planning competency, with an ability to prioritize work. Requires strong time management skills.

  • Ability to effectively explain complex technical features and present to external and internal clients.

  • Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure, while maintaining a professional phone/web presence.

  • Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and as a team member is required.

  • Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made and ask questions as appropriate.

  • Experience working for a membership association and/or health care organization is preferred.

  • Ability to manage large multi-layered and complex projects including measures of success, forecasting, and evaluation.
