The Remote Specialist/Project Manager will primarily be responsible for overseeing the sliding on the rig utilizing remote communication. The candidate will be required to have extensive knowledge of directional drilling as well as possess the ability to apply mathematical and directional principles. The candidate will also be utilized as a relief directional coordinator and be responsible for performing the day to day directional coordinating duties.

Detailed Description

  • Promotes and supports all company policies specifically including the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
  • Acts as the communications hub between field operations, operations support, engineering, and marketing.
  • Will be the subject matter expert and will oversee the sliding on the rig utilizing remote communication.
  • Will design and develop the remote operations infrastructure capability for running Directional jobs remotely.
  • Travel to field locations and wellsite to train and support operations activities relating to the development and introduction of new products.
  • Provides operational input to engineering design activities.
  • Undertakes special assignments and projects as required.
  • Receive all pre-well planning information for jobs assigned and work with various support groups to ensure all pre-well requests have been completed.
  • Prepare job tool lists and ensure equipment and personnel are directed to the job site as per customer schedule.
  • Monitor MS Directional activities and performance daily and otherwise as needed.
  • Complete all updates and daily reporting as requested by Operations Management.
  • Receive all End of Well information after job completion and submit/direct to the appropriate parties to close out the job file.
  • Develop and communicate customer presentations and spreadsheets on tool/operations performance
  • Review the field service tickets to ensure charges are accurate and consistent with the pricing agreement for the job.
  • Supports and collaborates with other departments within the organization.
  • Interact with customers as needed.
  • Complete other assignments associated with MS Directional business as directed.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and working on multiple projects simultaneously to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to promptly give and follow directions when working with others. As well must have proficient communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective presentations and written report preparation.
  • Strong computer skills required with the ability to proficiently use MS Office Suite as well as Innova to develop presentations, correspondence, reports, and schedules (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and log and track tool testing data.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to the field and operational work areas.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times.
  • Ability to regularly travel as needed to visit worksites and support business units; may require extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area.
  • Ability to work on weekends and be on call after hours as needed.
  • Must have experience in coordinating and oversight of Directional Operations
  • Must be self-motivated, with the ability to oversee others and influence decisions, capable of identifying problems and recommending alternative solutions.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to take initiative, make decisions and drive for results. Must demonstrate a high level of professional integrity and demeanor.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively engage with cross-functional teams to improve overall company performance.
  • Complete other assignments as requested.
  • Occasional travel required to districts, customer offices, job sites, and potential vendor facilities.
  • Observe all company safety precautions as they pertain to various environments you or your staff may be subject to.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of Senior Level/Day Lead directional drilling experience
  • 2+ years of directional remote operations experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 5+ years of senior directional drilling preferred
  • Prior experience with setting up a directional remote center (tools, communication requirements etc)
  • 1+ years management experience with directional remote operations
  • Project management experience a plus

Additional Details:

This position requires the person to work in both office locations and well site locations outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including precipitation, cold/heat, high wind, and turbulent conditions. This job requires the ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered. The job may require some overtime including weekends or holidays, and can include travel with overnight stays.
