We are hiring a Direct Support Professional to assist people with disabilities and provide in home services for the elderly. You will provide support and personal care, while also supervising day-to-day living activities. As a Direct Support Professional, you should have a heart for people and a passion to help others. Staff and clients are to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity. Your goal will be to make sure all clients reach their highest level of independence and personal growth, in a fun and constructive environment.

Job Duties/Description:

• Ensure resident proper grooming and hygiene daily and as needed

• Ensure clients wear clean, eat, and appropriate clothing

• Ensure that clients receive appropriate dietary needs as ordered by the physician

• Administer client medication as ordered by the physician

• Prepare client food as written in nutrition menu/plans

• Supervise client daily living activities

• Implement client programming towards client goals and objectives

• Ensure safety of client what in and out of home

• Continually monitor any client changes in condition and document and report appropriately

• Intervene appropriately to behaviors as written in their programs (if applicable)

• Prepare clients for quarterly reviews with the physician

• Take client data on medical needs, updates, etc.

• Provide emergency basic care/First Aid procedures to clients as needed

• Maintain a clean and sanitized environment including bedrooms, kitchen, bathrooms, shared living spaces, etc.

• Document any changes in communication logs

• Document and sign out any medications as provided by physician instructions

• Follow daily schedules set for by in-home staff

• Attend required in-service trainings as scheduled (time will be paid)

• Ensure that residents are treated with respect and dignity

• Ensure that residents are free of any type of abuse (included but not limited to: physical, emotional, verbal, mental, financial, etc.

• Submit timesheets and any documentations in a timely manner

• Ensure clients are supervised and observed at all times especially when involving their programming

Qualifications:

• Clearances of required documentation (i.e. TB clearance, criminal record clearance, health screening, etc.)

• 18+ years old (required)

• High school diploma (required)

• CPR certified (required) - can be completed after employment

• Direct Service Professional (DSP) Certification - if not already certified, must complete Year 1 training within first year and Year 2 training within 2nd year of employment (required)

• Valid California Drivers License and car insurance (required)

• All renews/recertifications (i.e. CPR, DSP, TB tests, etc.) will be reimbursed after the first initial completion

• Experience in care of others similar to job responsibilities of a DSP

• Ability to organize workload and provide excellent service and care for residence

• Must be willing to work with others and follow directives given by administrator

• Ability to effectively communicate orally and written

• Ability to respect confidentiality of all clients, staff, and facility records

• Must be able to drive clients to appointments, day programs, and scheduled activities (company transportation vehicles will be provided)

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Pay: $15.50 per hour

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• CPR Certification (Preferred)
