Full-time, salaried position providing direct services to adults with developmental disabilities to help them develop, maintain, and improve upon skills and behaviors that enhance their independence, health, and overall well-being. Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Collaborates and communicates amicably with other staff and community partners to provide professional, comprehensive, quality services for Sunshine clients.
- Participates with service coordinators to develop client goals for Person Directed Plans.
- Collaborates with coworkers/volunteers to create and implement structured and engaging activities and skill building opportunities on-site and off-site.
- Maintains daily attendance records; provides detailed documentation of client progress/outcomes in a timely manner using Microsoft Word & Excel programs.
- Monitors inventory in each venue and notifies management when supplies need to be ordered.
- Assists with planning, organizing and chaperoning community outings, educational field trips, and client/volunteer projects.
- Assists & monitors clients at lunch/breaks following safety protocols.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work environment and preserves agency equipment.
- Assists with special projects, events, Sunshine pet partner and other duties as assigned.
- Maintains current trainings as required by regulatory agencies (i.e., infection control, CPR/First Aid, preventing/managing aggressive behaviors, reporting abuse/neglect)
- Exhibits ability to adapt to changing schedules, environment, and activities; work with diverse individuals, personalities, abilities; and effectively handle challenging behaviors.
- Treats all clients, families, coworkers, volunteers and community partners with respect.
- Exhibits compassion, positive attitude, patience, creativity, initiative, sound judgement; maintains calm under pressure and represents the organization with professionalism.
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, use sledgehammer (to install rebar for posting flags) and other strenuous activities for volunteer projects, tolerate varying weather/heat, bend to weed vegetable garden, assist & transfer individuals using wheelchairs & walkers, safely enter/exit and drive agency's 15-passenger van.
