Job Summary:
A Lead Server is the sales person of the restaurant. The server is knowledgeable about the menus we offer. The server up sales the guest answers any questions about the menu and will suggest wine and beer pairing for the guest. Maintains guest checks with the POS system ensuring all orders to the kitchen are accurate and correct and correctly completes the transaction with payment and accurate accounting of his/her daily sales. The lead server also takes responsibility of the Servers, host and bartenders and ensures their success in the daily operation of the restaurant. The lead server is the front of house team leader, mentor, coach and trainer.
Qualification Summary:
- High School diploma is preferred, and/or equivalent work experience
- Experience in restaurant supervision and management preferred
- Certification in sanitation, ServSafe or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in similar restaurant or hotel Front of House department preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Long hours may be required.
- Medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to stand during entire shift.
Duties and Functions:
- Approach all encounters with guest and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
- Maintain and holds host, bartenders and servers accountable for maintaining regular attendance in compliance with East End Grill standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the restaurant.
- Maintain and holds host, Bartenders and servers accountable for maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming and hygiene, which include a clean and pressed uniform.
- Comply and holds host, bartenders and servers accountable at all times with East End Grill standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient restaurant operations.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Complete all side work and cleaning duties per standards. Perform opening and closing procedures and side work duties according to station rotation assignment and holds servers, hosts and bartenderders as such.
- Know the location and operation of all fire extinguishing equipment and be familiar with East End Grill emergency procedures.
- Maintains guest sales with POS system and assists trains and holds servers accountable for maintaining guest sales with POS system.
- Ensures accuracy of all orders to the kitchen as well as ensuring all food and beverage to the guest is correct and of correct consistency and quality as well as holding all servers and bartenders accountable for such.
- Upsells items to the guest to increase daily revenue.
- Demonstrates menu knowledge to correctly answer questions from guest.
- Serves the guest with extreme detail to ensure the perfect experience for them. This includes anticipating meeting and exceeding their needs.
- Be available to help others with any needs, train and coach as necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Properly handle all cash and credit transactions and hold all servers and bartenders accountable for such, ensuring accurate accounting for daily sales.
- Provide supervision and support to team members in the production and preparation areas of the kitchen in order to retain, and motivate while providing a safe work environment. Be able to support any station in the dining room that requires help.
- Assist in development and maintenance of weekly schedules based on forecasted covers. Adjust when necessary to ensure labor cost and customer satisfaction is priority.
- Hold ten minute training sessions daily to continue the development of team members.
- Maintain open lines of communication by attending and leading daily pre-shift meetings.
- Practice and hold all team members accountable for practicing safe work habits at all times to avoid possible injury to self or other team members.
- Perform other duties as required by management and owners.
