Dental Assistant (EFDA I)

We are seeking a highly competent Dental Assistant with excellent interpersonal communication skills to work at our new dental office with state-of-the-art equipment and furnishing.

Site Location: West Salem Clinic - Dental | 1233 Edgewater St NW

Position Status: Full-time | Monday - Thursday

Sign-on Bonus: $1000 (Internal candidates that are currently employed here at NWHS are not eligible for a sign-on bonus.)

YOUR ROLE:

As an EFDA you will assist the dentist in examining and treating patients and provide trauma informed care with a positive attitude.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Assists dentists or dental hygienist in transfer of instruments utilizing standard dental assisting principles. Assists the provider in preparation and delivery of dental materials.
• Exposes, processes, and, when necessary, duplicates x-rays. Ensures that the x-rays are suitable for diagnosis.
• Maintains and disinfects operatories, maintains dental equipment, ensuring that vacuum lines, unit, chair, light, instruments, and tray setups are thoroughly disinfected and properly sterilized in accordance with established protocols. Alerts Facilities Director and Clinic Operations Officer when an instrument or equipment item requires attention.
• Uses a Trauma Informed Care approach to prepare the patient for treatment. Takes vital signs and reviews and updates patient history as directed. Lays out appropriate instruments for procedures and provides emergency evaluation of patients when necessary.
  
• Creates a patient centered environment and make all attempts necessary to schedule and treat patients in a timely manner.
• Restocks the rooms as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Certified EFDA
• X-ray certified
  
• One-year dental assisting experience preferred
• English/Spanish preferred
