Procure and oversee handling of product goods from vendors for BYU Food To-Go and for the Creamery Takeaway locations. Incumbent responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following: oversee inventory management, ensure proper rotation and storage of items received, maintain exterior appearance and cleanliness of dock areas, assist in timely deliveries, and perform monthly inventory counts. Position will also assist the Chef de Cuisine in maintaining recipes, food par levels, and organization of storage locations.

Essential Functions

Product Procurement and Receiving –

  • Acquisition of storage food, paper products, cleaning chemicals, and some small equipment
  • Acquisition and storage of ordering for Food To-Go Heritage building and Creamery Takeaway building
  • Receive product in timely manner and ensure proper storage to maintain quality of items received
  • Utilize Eatec to place orders with best vendor for products, ensuring appropriate quantities are purchased
  • Organizes orders for delivery
  • Ensure quality products are received from vendors-Rejecting any that don’t meet quality standards.
  • Process invoices in timely manner
  • Communicate any supply chain shortages/issues and find solutions to overcome these to ensure operation continues to run smooth

Inventory Management –

  • Find and fix variances in inventory
  • Monitor shelf life and work with management to ensure movement of goods before expiration
  • Inventory Turns—work with management to have weekly inventory turns
  • Perform monthly physical counts

Training and Hiring –

  • Hire and train student employees, including drivers
  • Post student positions as necessary through SESO
  • Train student receivers, including the following:
    • Onboarding of new employees
    • Formal training meetings
    • Daily training as needed
    • Hands-on training
  • Ensure all students do the following:
    • Sweep and mop storage and dock areas
    • Keep lockers and uniform rack clean and organized
  • Responsible for proper disposal of used oil, pulp, waste
  • Responsible for cleanliness and organization of dock area
  • Maintain flexibility as possible to help cover Food To-Go operations as needed
  • Other assignments as requested by Food To-Go Manager

Education/Experience

Minimum required: 1 year experience in delivery/receiving environment

Preferred: 2+ years’ experience in a high yield receiving department or other supply chain experience

Skills, abilities, knowledge, licenses, certifications:

  • Required:
    • Experience in inventory management
    • Decision making abilities
    • Able to work professionally with vendors, purchasing, and students
    • Able to work with a high degree of accuracy and detail
    • Able to learn computer programs quickly
    • Must have (or be willing to obtain and maintain) a Food handler’s permit, Hazcom, and Servsafe
    • Team player attitude – willing to assist in other areas of Food To-Go as needed
  • Preferred:
    • Able to delegate tasks and multi-task
    • Previous experience with inventory variances
    • Ability to maintain professional relationships with other campus departments

Employee Class: 3/4 Time (28 hour)

Work Location: Provo Campus

Environment: Frequent exposure to unfavorable conditions such as all-weather, or working in cramped, very dirty, or unpleasant quarters

Approximate Starting Salary: $16.50 - $21 an hour
