Data Cabling
We are currently hiring a structured cabling technician with 3+ years of structured cabling experience in the field with structured cabling projects in a commercial or residential environment. Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as we have an immediate need in the Atlanta and South Georgia area.
Data Cable Installer Duties:
- Pulling and routing CAT 5 or CAT 6 cable in a new construction commercial or residential environment.
- Serve as a technician to complete Data and Telephone systems installation work.
- Coordinate with client to assure timely completion of work
- Terminating phone jacks and dressing and terminating distribution frames (66 or 110 blocks, patch panels)
- Installing support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks, surface mount)
Qualifications:
- Experience terminating CAT5/6 cable
- Experience testing and troubleshooting data cabling
- Working knowledge of basic network hardware such as switches, routers, modems, WAPs
- Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards
- Capable of performing site surveys, reading blueprints, and managing hours and inventory
- Troubleshooting networking issues
- Rack and stack work, closet work, putting together server racks, patch panels
- Ability to read and understand schematic and line diagrams
- Your own basic telecom tools including punch downs, snips, wire strippers, cordless drill, PPE (safety gear), etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Must have reliable Transportation. Locations can be as much as 2.5 hours away.
- Must have strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with the customer
- Must be a self-starter and dependable
Job Type: Part time (This position can be done even if you are currently working a full-time job)
Pay: $25.00 per hour
