Job Summary

Performs cleaning and minor maintenance and sets up meeting rooms for various functions at all CVB meeting venues. Assists with in-house catering and setting up lite audio visual. Assists all CVB special festivals and events as needed under the direction of the supervisor.

Essential Functions

1. Sets up and takes down tables, chairs, meeting equipment, etc. as assigned.

2. Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing of CVB Facilities.

3. Dusts, vacuums, washes windows and generally cleans CVB Facilities.

4. Sweeps, mops and washes dishes in the kitchen during/after catered events.

5. Cleans/ washes and refuels CVB facility department vehicles.

6. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

7. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

8. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.

Required Skills

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work well with people.
  • Must have good oral communication skills and be able to demonstrate excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules as needed for weekends, evenings, holidays, special events and programs.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to use iPad and perform basic math functions.
  • Must be able to lift 45 lbs. and work inside and outside in all kinds of weather as required.
  • Must have the physical ability to set up and tear down tables/chairs and partitions, along with cleaning of all facilities.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills, tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Must be a self starter.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision and still able to accomplish assigned job duties in a timely manner.
  • Must enjoy working with the public in a hospitality atmosphere.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work for long hours and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to work cooperatively with co-workers.
  • Ability to learn to operate and maintain equipment and tools (leaf blower, small hand tools) used to maintain CVB meeting rooms and learn and obey safety procedures.
  • Must have above average reading skills necessary to safely use chemical cleaning agents and compounds.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity, including pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, twisting, standing and walking for extended periods of time in adverse conditions including extreme heat, cold, and moisture.
  • Ability to move furniture, set up tables, chairs, and equipment and remove trash as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Minimum age of 18.Ability to work weekday, evenings, weekends and some holiday hours as assigned for set-ups and special events.Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check and credit check. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.Must pass a pre-employment basic physical, drug screen and functional assessment screening (Level 1).

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to perform light to medium work that involves walking or standing, use the computer keyboard and mouse, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, stand, walk, and stoop, climb or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 44 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
