Customer Service Representative - Exports
Job description
The Export Customer Service Representative (“CSR”) serves as the primary contact between the customer and the company by processing customer orders, as well as providing prompt replies on all required requests. This person must have clear, concise written communication skills, essential to the job communicating with international companies
Responsibilities:
- Work with assigned field sales representatives (FSR), Regional Sales Manager and Customers for Export orders.
- Place orders in the QAD computer operating system.
- Carefully review the Purchase Order for accuracy.
- Must be knowledgeable with INCO Terms
- Must have an understanding of Letters of Credit and Bank Sight Drafts
- Work with various Freight Forwarders to obtain booking/sailing information in a timely manner.
- Provide necessary documents required for export shipments.
- Prepare and issue invoices and packing lists to the freight forwarders and customers.
- Request and review Ocean and Air bills of lading
- Complete required forms i.e. SLI and USMCA (for shipments to Mexico and Canada)
- Follow up with customers regarding past due payments and provide feedback to the Accounts Receivable Department.
- Work with freight company to arrange shipping material to customer site and also billing of freight.
- Issue and process purchase orders to outside suppliers.

Current Team:
The Customer Service Team is part of the Sales and Marketing organization and partners closely with the Field Sales Representatives and Plant Staff. The team is based at the Corporate Office in Pittsburgh PA and supports a number of locations across the US, Canada and the United Kingdom.
This position reports to the Vice President of Sales.
Resource Profile:
- High school diploma required, college credits or degree a plus.
- 3-5 years of Manufacturing customer service experience, preferably in refractories or a related industry.
- Must have previous experience in an Export International environment.
- Must be self-motivated, able to multi-task, prioritize and work in a fast passed environment.
- Must possess good problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with QAD preferred.
- Must be results-oriented and demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
