Provo City is looking for a Custodian to provide general labor and semi-skilled maintenance work in the cleaning and upkeep of the Peaks Ice Arena. Essential Duties: This is a custodial position at the Provo Peaks Ice Arena. The individual appointed to this position will be responsible for working with other custodial staff in cleaning the facility, building interior, and offices, by doing the following: sweep, mop, and clean floors; clean and wash glass, woodwork, and windows; dust and clean furniture; clean ice sheet glass and surrounding arena areas; clean restrooms, locker rooms and other storage areas daily; and perform other related work as required.
Minimum Requirements: Any training or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the work. Previous custodial work is desirable.
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Schedule may vary and will be discussed in interview.
Selection Factors: Knowledge of safety principles as they relate to the work. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, work in busy environments, and maintain effective working relationships with staff and co-workers.
Physical/Environmental Factors: Work requires performing manual and physical labor; bending; climbing ladders; lifting medium to heavy objects; being exposed periodically to adverse weather conditions, caustic chemicals and cleaners; and performing other varied physical activities associated with the essential duties of the job.
Screening: Based on meeting the minimum requirements and job-related experience, skills, knowledge, and education. Selection may be based largely upon an oral interview. Criminal background checks are conducted on all City positions. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal.
Pre-employment Testing: Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screening and background investigation. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screening results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of 6 months.
