CT Lung Screening Coordinator
SUMMARY:
This position is located at our Providence, RI clinical site. Monday- Friday 8:30 AM- 5:00 PM.
Under the general supervision of the CT Manager and Lead Lung Screening Coordinator, according to established policies and procedures, responsible for receiving/making calls, prescreening and confirming patient CT appointments. Ensures that all collected data is entered into RIS accurately and completely.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lung screening tracking; reviews all referred patients for appropriateness of screening, schedules and tracks necessary follow-ups, communicates directly with referring physician’s office- providing guidance and education.
Reviews all CT Lung Screenings, CT Chests and CT Chest for Lung Screening Follow Ups. Confirms CT Chest exams for all sites from current day to at least three days out.
Input pathology findings into patient’s chart. Call outside facilities to retrieve information and scan in necessary paperwork.
Provides assistance with problems, acts as a liaison between the staff, radiologists, referring physicians, patients, site manager and marketing. Continually sets the example of professionalism, flexibility and high levels of patient care.
Review and mend errors found on the weekly Lung Screening Audit list.
Checks referral slips and informs manager and technologist of incorrectly scheduled exams. Contact referring physician’s office to request slip or change an exam
Checks current day’s schedule periodically for add-on patients.
Call outside facilities to retrieve information. Scan in necessary paperwork.
Coordinate with and volunteer assistance to reception and other personnel in areas outside primary areas of responsibility (i.e., patient registration, patient scheduling, answering telephones, posting charges, retrieving files, file relocation, etc.) whenever lulls in technical duties occur.
Additional duties and projects as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress, referring physicians, staff and co-workers. Ability to multi-task and complete all job duties in a timely manner for efficient patient care. Attention to detail and proactive with patients while on phone.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written needed.
Demonstrates ability to enter and update information into RIS as well as clerical methods and techniques.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Organizational and analytical skills to compile and interpret data.
MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION, PREPARATION AND TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a School of Medical Secretarial Sciences preferred.
One-year experience as a medical secretary, preferably in a radiology setting or technologist assistant. Three (3) months on-the-job training.
