Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant is responsible for assessing business expenses and preparing optimized budget plans related to the manufacturing processes in the facility. They will collaborate with other accountants and financial staff within the company to provide financial and accounting support to executives and department heads who establish goals and budgets for the organization. This position is responsible for producing detailed cost reports and analyses in support of operations and sales.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs
• Setting standard costs of manufactured goods
• Developing and analyzing cost standards
• Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
• Performing account reconciliations
• Preparing audit reports and presenting their findings to management
• Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit
• Advising executives and upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data
• Managing the company’s balance sheet and accounting books
• Supporting other company accountants with invoicing and capital expenditure.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Required Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; advanced degree a plus
• Must have Specialty in manufacturing cost accounting
• 3-5 years progressive experience within accounting/finance with specialty in manufacturing cost accounting.
• CPA a plus
• Great Plains experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• MS Excel expert- advanced functions and data manipulation
• Deadline driven
• Demonstrated ability to maintain composure under pressure
• Self-directed- demonstrated ability to work independently
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work fast and efficiently and prioritize work accordingly
• This is a full-time position; associate must be able to work 40 hours a week
