General Summary of Position:

The Centers for Learning and Advising and Student Success (CLASS) is a centrally coordinated student academic support center and provides advising, tutoring, success coaching and a wide range of academic support services to all UMass Lowell students which include managing two testing centers. The Centers for Learning offers these services on both north and south campus as well as in the residence halls. The testing centers are located on North and South Campus. The Centers for Learning is actively engaged in university-wide student success initiatives and partners with academic colleges, student affairs and other units on campus to support the retention, persistence, and graduation of all our students.

The Coordinator of Academic Support Services part of the Centers for Learning Academic Support Services team. There are 3 areas of responsibility for this position; 1.) Coordinating the south campus testing center; 2.) Engaging in pro-active outreach and academic advising to undergraduate students to support their overall success; 3.) Collaborating as a member of the CLASS Academic Services team in the delivery of academic support and programming.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

Education:

  • Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel/ Higher Education Administration/ Counseling/ Psychology or related field is strongly preferred
  • Strong collaboration, organization, interpersonal and communication skills

PLUS

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time (or equivalent) experience providing academic support & advising for college students at the undergraduate level and working with faculty.
  • Also, must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

**Will consider candidates with 5+ years of significant experience advising students in other related educational settings.

Technical Skills:

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be proficient with SIS, Starfish, advising tools, Salesforce (CRM)
  • Strong communication skills
