As a full-time member of our Media Relations team, you’ll serve an important role supporting the media communication strategies and priorities on our dynamic Communications team. This role will allow you to:

· Assist with media on-call team efforts to ensure department's 24/7 response to media inquiries.

· Work with other UF Health Communications team members to pitch news to local, regional and national media.

· Support corporate and internal communications efforts as needed.

· Assist with managing issues and developing messages for diverse communications platforms.

· Participate in department's emergency preparedness efforts and serve as a Public Information Officer/spokesperson as needed.

The successful candidate should be a communications professional with a bachelor’s degree in PR, journalism or communications and at least two years of journalist experience or hands-on experience coordinating communications and public relations initiatives, preferably in a health care environment. Crisis communication and issues management experience is highly desirable. Candidates should have in-depth knowledge of how the media works and demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills, as well as the ability to work within a diverse organization with various stakeholders that can include physicians, corporate executives, health care professionals, patients and the general public.
