Glenaire is an accredited, Presbyterian-sponsored continuing care retirement community (CCRC) for seniors located in Cary, N.C. Cary is a unique city that has been ranked by Money Magazine as one of the Best Small Cities in America in which to live. Cary is located in the Research Triangle Park (RTP) area of North Carolina, close to Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Glenaire offers a full continuum of care on the premises featuring all private accommodations in our Independent Living, Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION
  • Prepare all food items that are listed on the production sheets according to the meal.
  • Follow production sheets that allocate foods to be distributed to the dining room and therapeutic serving areas.
  • Follow standardized recipe and production sheets.
  • Make recommendations to Production Manager.
  • Work with Production Manager on a preventive program for all kitchen equipment.
  • Observe all safety precautions.
  • Maintain the highest grade of sanitation possible.
  • Taste all food in production to assure that it is properly prepared.
  • Observe all principles and practices of safety and sanitation.
  • Store all food and supplies according to health code standards
  • Participate in daily meetings for the production staff.
  • Keep up the sanitation, care and cleaning of all kitchen equipment in assigned area to include pots, pans and utensils.
  • Set up the cafeteria line for all meals.
  • Serve the cafeteria line for all meals.
  • Prepare therapeutic foods.
  • Attend meetings/seminars to continually update knowledge of changes, new equipment and new ways of preparing foods.
JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Minimum of two years general cooking experience or at least on year institutional cooking with knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Show evidence of negative TB skin test or the equivalent.
  • Available to work any shift required as well as weekends and holidays.
  • May be required to work other shifts than the one hired for initially.
  • Knowledge of all kitchen equipment.
  • Keep maintenance logs to ensure that all equipment is safe and serviceable.
