With the belief that they were there when we needed them, so we must be there now that they need us, Veterans Inc., the largest provider of supportive services to Veterans and their families in New England is seeking to fill the Cook position and become a valued member of the Veterans Inc. team!
This position is under the general supervision of the Head Chef, and overall guidance from the Food Service Supervisor. The cook will be responsible for preparing and serving meals according to the needs of program participants with all dietary requirements.
We are hiring for the following shifts at our Shrewsbury location:
- Sunday-Wednesday- 8am-6pm (40 hours)
- Friday-Saturday 8am-6pm (20 hours)

- Saturday-Sunday- 8am-6pm (20 hours)
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY:
- Prepare or direct preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems.
- Determine amount, type and availability of food and supplies required.
- Set steam table; serve or ensure proper serving of food for tray line or dining room.
- Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
- Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
- Store food properly and safely, marking date and item.
- Report necessary equipment repair and maintenance to supervisor.
- Assist with periodic inventory checks and perform other functions such as maintaining records to comply with Veterans Inc., government, state, and local standards.
- Assist with bi-weekly food pantry.
- Assist with food services for special events as assigned, occasionally on evenings or weekends.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required. Culinary Arts Certificate, or other related fields, preferred.
- Minimum of two years' experience in the Food Services Industry.
- ServSafe Certification required.
- Ability and skill to cater to groups of up to 300 people.
- Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/Background records check.
- Compliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.
