The Cedars is conducting a search for an experienced Financial Controller. The Cedars is a stand-alone, award winning, non-profit provider of senior care situated on 13 acres in beautiful Portland, ME. Offering short-stay rehab, long-term care, assisted living, and independent living to older adults, The Cedars provides compassionate, person-centered care and a meaningful workplace.

A well-qualified candidate for this career opportunity will possess an accounting degree, excellent analytical and communication skills as well as in-depth experience in Microsoft Office and accounting software. Experience working with a healthcare organization or public accounting firm is a plus. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. Responsibilities will include:

  • Supervise job positions of accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger accounting assistant and billing manager, reporting to the CFO.
  • Coordinate annual budget process and presents to the CFO.
  • Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information for external auditors, regulators, banks, and any other entity which may be entitled to such.
  • Ensure all tax return and reimbursement filings are prepared, reviewed, and submitted in accordance with appropriate regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain operating manuals for various accounting functions, purchasing procedures, data processing systems, monthly reporting requirements, etc.
  • Prepare monthly financial data for all corporations, entities, departments, presenting to the CFO and CEO.
  • Attend staff, management and board meetings as directed by the CFO

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting a must

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
