Location: (Remote/In-House) Remote
Schedule: Full time, Mon-Fri 9am-5pm EST

Position Summary:
The Content Writer is responsible for writing and publishing creative and compelling content in support of the Marketing and Communications goals and strategies for the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline), a national, 24/7 emotional crisis and mental health hotline, funded by SAMHSA and administered by Vibrant Emotional Health.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The Content Writer will create public-facing and internal written communications including but not limited to blog posts, articles, newsletters, brochures and other marketing copy, web copy, guides, and resources. The Content Writer will create strengths-based marketing and communications materials with an emphasis on creating opportunities to share stories of hope and recovery; promote suicide prevention and mental health resources and services; empower people to take action in suicide prevention and mental health; destigmatize mental health concerns; and promote emotional wellness for all. The Content Writer will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team, as well as Vibrant and the Lifeline’s mental health clinicians, crisis counselors, and experts, to create written materials for a variety of audiences, including people with mental health conditions or in crisis, people looking for information and resources, and people looking to participate in suicide prevention and mental health, with an eye for maintaining the appropriate brand voice and tone for each program and audience.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English
- experience writing and publishing blogs, articles, marketing copy, website content, newsletters, guides/resources
- experience with CMS
- experience doing research with multiple sources
- Ability to write for a variety of voices and mediums; creativity;
- ability to convert jargon into everyday language;
- ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team;
- strong interest in mental health, suicide prevention, and/or disaster mental health;
- ability to meet deadlines;
- ability to be flexible and versatile in a breaking news environment.
- experience working with timely and sensitive messaging and subject matter a plus
- knowledge of marketing and digital marketing best practices a plus.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, editorial, or related field.
- Experience at a nonprofit, administration or mental health organization a plus.
