The Saranac Lake central School District is looking for the best-qualified person to work with its IT Team in an atmosphere that requires flexibility for spontaneity and the ability to maintain a professional manner when interacting with faculty, staff, students and outside organiziations.
Distinguished Features:
- This position involves technial responsibility for maintaining, troubleshooting and monitoring district computer related hardware and software associated with the daily maintenance of a K-12 environment.
- The individual will need to exercise independent judgement in carrying out assignments.
- The individual may be required to coordinate with outside consultants/vendors for support and technical resolution of specific tasks.
- The position does related work as required.
Typical Work Activities:
- Works with supervisor to assure proper functionality of hardware and software on computers, projectors, copiers, Smartboards, laptops, iPads and Chromebooks in labs, classrooms, administrative offices and libraries at four (4) or more buildings.
- Troubleshoots and solves issues in a professional and timely manner.
- Sets up new equipment and keeps software up to date and maintains inventory and stock of equipment.
- Interacts with students, faculty and staff on a daily basis.
- Maintains database in work order system and will prioritize work orders.
- Needs to report problems to supervisor concerning issues of high priority.
- Will have responsibilities for web maintenance and training.
Full Performance Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:
- Wide knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems and how to troubleshoot them.
- Replace and install hardware.
- Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Creates software documentations for future installations.
- Must be able to work independently and have the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Must have a valid NY license.
Minimum Qualifications:
(a) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associates Degree in Electrical Technology and/or a related applied field and one (1) year of experience in the repair and maintenance of microcomputer systems or computerized equipment.
OR
(b) Graduation from a high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years experience in the repair and maintenance of microcomputer systems or computerized equipment.
OR
(c) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (a) and (b) above.
Residency is waived for this position.
