WINSYSTEMS, Inc. is seeking a Computer Electronics Assembly Technician at our corporate headquarters in Grand Prairie, TX. WINSYSTEMS designs, manufactures, tests, and distributes embedded computer systems for industrial applications. Our products include x86 and ArmĀ® based embedded single board computers and I/O modules.

We are looking forward to meeting an individual who likes working with computer hardware and software. This person understands the mechanical, operations, and electrical components of computers; and has experience in inspection, testing, repair, and assembly.

Position Ownership Overview:

Performs basic to complex tasks to assemble and modify electronic and electromechanical computer systems, parts, and enclosures.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assembles electrical or electronic units and support structures; installs components, units, subassemblies, wiring and assembly casings, using bolts, soldering equipment, pneumatic tools, and hand tools.
  • Loads, tests, and runs operating systems and software into computer system products. Updates bios versions and enters MAC addresses, and performs other software-related installations.
  • Connects cables and wiring according to specifications.
  • Reads and interprets schematic drawings, diagrams, blueprints, specifications, work orders and reports in order to determine materials required and assembly instructions.
  • Inspects, tests, configures, and calibrates completed units to ensure that units meet design specifications, tolerances, company quality standards and customer order requirements.
  • Inspects metal parts using measurement tools such as calipers and dials to ensure that parts meet product specifications.
  • Uses voltmeter and ohmmeter equipment to check wiring connections.
  • Confers with supervisors or engineers to plan and review work activities, and to resolve production problems.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED; and two years related computer/small electronics (e.g., cell phones, gaming consoles, laptops, or tablets) assembly/test/repair experience (or equivalent), preferably in a computer manufacturing or repair/refurbishment environment.
  • IPC-A-610 knowledge and certification preferred. Employee must attend training, pass examination, and retain this certification during employment in this position.
  • Knowledge of CMOS, BIOS settings, and port configuration is a plus.
  • Electrical/power supply knowledge
  • Working knowledge of soldering is a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of hand, power, and pneumatic tools
  • Knowledge of basic computer operations and software applications
  • Ability to communicate and comprehend clearly and effectively in the English language.
  • Able to follow work instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Effective communication, multi-tasking, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to perform measurements and basic mathematical operations.
  • Familiarity with database/ERP systems.

Physical Demands:

  • Regular requirements include using hands to finger, handle, or feel. Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and walk, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or squat.
  • Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Employee must be able to work around fumes (e.g., solder and cleaning fumes), or airborne particles, and moving mechanical parts.

The Computer Electronics Assembly Technician position is a full-time position. Work Schedule: M-F, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (some overtime may be required).
