Certified Nursing Assistant
$3000 Sign On Bonus
$16-$22+ per hour
General Purpose:
The Certified Nursing Assistant works under the general supervision of the Licensed Nurse and is responsible for performing tasks within their scope of practice involving basic resident care, observation and maintenance of the nursing unit.
Essential Functions:
- Provides direct, physical care of residents in sub-acute and long-term care setting.
- Proficient at following directives both oral and written.
- Communicates effectively with residents, families, staff and persons from outside organizations and agencies.
- Ambulates, positions, lifts and transfers residents, per facility safety protocols and per resident individual plan of care.
- Observes and reports symptoms, reactions, and progress of residents.
- Observes and follows facility infection control standards/protocols during the performance of all duties.
Typical Work:
- Provides functional assistance to residents, including dressing, undressing, toileting, feeding, bathing, and hygiene.
- Lifts, positions, and ambulates residents per facility safety protocols and per individual plan of care.
- Responsible for comprehensive reporting to the supervising nurse in regards to resident condition, symptoms, incidents, change in response to care and progress of residents.
- Able to understand, accurately document and complete timely, all required information on all Daily Documentation sheets, Seven Day ADL Records, vital signs sheets etc.
- Gives input to and assists in carrying out the plan of care for each individual on assigned unit.
- Performs simple, noninvasive therapeutic procedures as delegated by the supervising nurse (i.e. vital signs, weights, specimen collection such as urine and stool)
- Maintains awareness of resident rights, including dignity, privacy and confidentiality and respects resident spiritual and emotional needs.
- Attends in-service programs and classes as required.
- Responsible for enhancing personal and professional skills through appropriate reading and learning activities.
- Assists with the orientation of new NAC staff to assigned area.
- Performs other duties as delegated by the supervising licensed nurse.
- Maintains a professional and positive demeanor.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- NAC certificate from a State approved program, and licensed to practice in the State of Washington.
- OBRA registry is clear of any violations
- Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to needs of the resident(s) assigned.
- Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with staff, residents, co-workers, and persons from outside organizations or services.
- Must be capable of regular attendance.
- Must meet all local health regulations, including criminal background checks, and reference inquiry.
- Must be able to perform essential functions with our without reasonable accommodation.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
Independent ambulation, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling up to 100lbs. Must be able to lift, maneuver in excess of 50lbs to waist level. Must be capable of continuous standing, walking, sitting and stooping with periodic kneeling. Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English, with residents, families, staff and professionals. Able to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures, and the ability to remain calm and follow instructions, facility protocols in stressful or emergency situations.
