Responsibilities:
Maintains working relationships with representatives from USA Computer Services, hospital information systems, vendors and other technical support groups; oversees hospital-wide clinical application projects; functions as liaison between HSIS Clinical Application services and USA Computer Services staff, hospital information systems staff, clinical information systems staff, vendors, administration, clinical department leaders, and staff; collaborates with clinical departments to utilize Clinical Applications to improve operations and departmental workflow; plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates initial and in on-going training of physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff on Clinical Applications; provides Clinical Applications education, training, and support functions at a level appropriate to users; identifies and troubleshoots problem areas related to Clinical Applications in consultation with physicians, nurses, technical staff and clinical service leaders; manages application product life cycles in accordance with enterprise level clinical and IS strategic planning; prepares resources allocation analysis for proposed Clinical Applications projects; prepares and presents written and oral presentations to organizational leadership related to Clinical Applications; participates in development, interpretation, and education of Clinical Applications polices and procedures; documents training materials and procedures; participates in performance improvement activities as required; utilizes a PC, audio-visual equipment, and other technology necessary to complete essential job functions; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families, and other hospital staff in person and via telephone; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the department; completes all mandatory hospital and educational requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; maintains equipment and supplies necessary to complete essential job functions; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and polices and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s values; adheres to policies pertaining to confidentiality; maintains professional knowledge and skills through journal reading and educational programs related to specialty specific topics; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and call and additional hours as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in medical technology from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama, four years related professional experience and registry eligible with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Scientist. Healthcare information systems and Cerner (PathNet) experience is highly preferred.
