LOCATION: This position is located in the Quality Assurance/Risk Management department at Kaua’i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) of the Hawai’i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua’i Region. KVMH, along with Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH) and The Kaua’i Region Clinics, which consists of The Clinic at Waimea, The Clinic at Port Allen, The Clinic at Kalāheo, The Specialty Clinic at Kalāheo, The Clinic/Urgent Care at Po’ipū, and The Clinic at Kapa’a, are all part of a public benefit corporation of the State of Hawai’i.
The Quality Assurance/Risk Management department administers the quality assurance, risk management, utilization review, and infection control programs; monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of patient care and initiates improvements to the care; identifies, evaluates, and addresses potential and actual risks to patients and staff; ensures effective and efficient utilization of hospital facilities and services through admission and continues to stay reviews; conducts the program of surveillance, prevention, and control of diseases within the hospital environment.
JOB FUNCTIONS: The Clerk V provides clerical support services to the Quality Assurance/Risk Management department, including infection control and UR/case management and working on MCN Policy Manager. This position will also assist with EOC minutes. There may also be frequent requirements for intense work activity and the ability to handle many clerical processes at one time while prioritizing functions. Candidates must have the ability to use tact and diplomacy in ensuring that HIPAA standards are maintained. A high level of confidentiality is required. This position may be subject to shift work and may be assigned to work in other facilities within Kaua'i region. The Clerk V reports directly to the Regional Chief Quality & Compliance Officer, position no. 109565, or its designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements. Please note that unless specifically indicated, the required education and experience are credited based on a 40-hour workweek.

Certifications: None required.
Basic Experience: Applicants must possess one-half (1/2) year of work experience which involved the performance of clerical tasks which demonstrated knowledge of English grammar; spelling; arithmetic; ability to read and understand oral and written instructions; ability to write simply and directly; and ability to compare words and numbers quickly and accurately.
General Clerical Experience: Three (3) years of work experience which involved the performance of a variety of clerical tasks that demonstrated knowledge of English grammar, spelling, arithmetic, common office appliances, and equipment; and the ability to read and understand oral and written instructions, carry out procedures in clerical work systems, speak and write simply and directly, compare words and numbers quickly and accurately, operate various kinds of office equipment.
Experience Preferred: One (1) year of the above experience in a health care setting (e.g., hospital, clinic, physician’s office, etc) which involved working with physician(s) and receiving, coordinating, expediting, and/or implementing their patient care orders. Such experience must have demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology through the application of such knowledge to work assignments.
