The Liability Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing a team within our Claims Department who are responsible for mitigating the company's exposure by formulating, developing and implementing appropriate claims handling techniques, consistent with industry standards.
This role is a remote opportunity! Pay starts at $85k and up, depending on experience and qualifications. This role is also eligible for a quarterly bonus opportunity!
Experience Required:
10+ years' litigation and liability claims experience required.- 5+ years' handling claims in the transportation industry required.
- Previous leadership experience required.
- Bachelors' degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Maintain state licensing where required.
- Successful completion of claims certification schools/classes such as AIC, AEI, ARM, CPCU preferred.
- Must possess exceptional negotiation skills.
- Must possess exceptional critical thinking skills and provide innovative and workable resolutions to complex issues and circumstances.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Must be very familiar with legal terminology and able to identify material items.
- Must possess strong understanding of property and casualty insurance and claims handling process.
Job Responsibilities: What you will do as a Liability Claims Manager
Responsible for the leadership and supervision of 3-10 Claims Examiners/Coordinators to bring about the successful investigation, liability determination, negotiation, financial analysis and settlement of claims files against the Company.- Mitigate the company's exposure by formulating, developing and implementing appropriate claims handling techniques. Assist with designating individual responsibility and establishing scope of authority with in the department for the accomplishment of objectives.
- Responsible for monitoring and auditing claims to ensure that corporate and departmental policies and procedures are followed for the successful settlements of claims, to include the reserving function and plans of actions.
- Responsible for communication with both internal and external parties to bring about the successful completion of claims and to control/minimize legal cost to the Company through fees and additional expenses. Negotiate legal costs where applicable and in alignment with local, state and federal laws, as well as company policies.
- Gather data on claims for record keeping and loss forecasting purposes. Estimate the financial value of claims.
- Assist with deposition requests and the identification and preparation of witnesses, and other discoveries.
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed by leadership.
