Carolina Cruising Charters Captains Overview:
The captain is first and foremost responsible for the safety and well-being of both the crew and passengers/guests, and the safe and efficient operation and management of the vessel. The captain is the ultimate authority on the vessel, commanding respect and attention from all crew and passengers/guests.
The captain is an ambassador of the Company’s reputation and always acts accordingly, whether with passengers and/or third parties. You'll be operating brand new luxury Berkshire Tritoon Boats and representing out partners at Forest River/Berkshire, WetSounds, Polar Bear Coolers, and more.
The captain has both administrative responsibilities and boat responsibilities outlined. These areas of responsibility overlap and are not confined to the locality of the office(s) or the vessel(s).
Captains will be driving vessels and guiding charters on the waters of Lake Norman near Charlotte, North Carolina, with children, parents, potential staff, other crew, and/or contractors and guests aboard. Event outings currently vary from 2-8 hours in length and may or may not include watersports and swimming/in water leisure activities.
Job Skills & Qualifications
* During application process, captain must provide copy of USCG Master License and supporting documents/certifications including matching driver’s license and sea time to be added to our insurance policies and approved by Lake Norman Marine Commission/Marinas/and other governing authorities. Captain to also submit W-9 Form.
- 21+ years of Age, US Citizen etc.
- Must maintain an active USCG Masters Captain’s License (of applicable tonnage for vessel(s) operated). Must notify company immediately of any breach, termination, suspension, etc. in active USCG license status
CPR and/or related first aid certifications
- Must notify company of any criminal convictions immediately in writing
- Absolutely no drugs or alcohol consumed or in one’s bodily system while working for company, subject to random drug testing at any time
- Calm and charismatic personality as well as patient, creative, and have a comfort and inclination working the public including young children, teens, and parents.
- Must be able to swim
- Maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance and arrive on time and in advance of duties
- Firm knowledge of marine craft communication, signaling and navigation systems
- Able to easily multi-task, including performing administrative duties
- Ability to remain calm and give directions in an emergency
- Maintain a personal healthy lifestyle to ensure our customer ultimate safety
- Knowledge of the waters and history of operational limits
- Must be willing and able to work Holidays and Weekends as needed, with main need for weekday availability.
- Must have working smartphone with access to download required applications and provide quality photography and videography
