Job Title: Dietary Manager
Basic Function: The Dietary Supervisor is responsible for the management of all dietary services and personnel under the supervision of a consulting Dietician.
Responsible To: Administrator. In the absence of the administrator, the Dietary Supervisor is responsible to the Director of Nursing.
Qualifications: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and passes certification as a Dietary Manager through an approved American Dietetics Association course. Experience in dietary supervision and long-term care is preferred. Knowledge of administration and operation of dietary service and purchasing practices and the ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations required. Must possess and demonstrate communication, leadership and organizational skills.
ESSENTIAL FUCTIONS:
1. To carry out and follow out all policies and procedures of the facility.
2. To devise, develop, adapt, and install, in consultation with the registered Dietician, operational methods and techniques to provide maximum efficiency within budget allowance for food, staffing, and supplies.
3. To Establish departmental procedures in conformance with state regulations and administrative policies and develop standards for organization and supervision of dietary services.
4. To maintain records and compile accurate reports essential to the operation and regulation regarding dietary service.
5. To apply principles of personal management in selection, placement, orientation and evaluation of dietary employees.
6. To review dietary policies, procedures and practices in consultation with a Registered Dietician.
7. To inspect all work, storage and serving areas to determine compliance with dietary regulations and policies, including sanitation, safety and proper handling procedures.
8. To determine quality and quantity of food required to meet menu specifications, provide standardized recipes, order items needed and control food production and waste.
9. To prepare bi-weekly staffing schedule according to established guidelines.
10. To assess each resident’s nutritional status, maintain records of diet orders, lab reports, medications, weight and medical conditions relevant to dietary needs. To attend resident care conferences and chart progress notes on each resident as regulation and/or medical conditions dictate.
11. To ensure that appropriate diets are served to all residents according to current written physician’s diet orders. To visit each resident to determine food preferences and intolerances. To investigate food related problems and follow up on any complaints about the dietary services.
12. To coordinated operation of dietary service with other departments as requested to meet customer/resident needs.
13. To arrange in-service education programs monthly for dietary employees and as appropriate for other staff.
14. To maintain sound customer service principles and to respond to and adequately resolve complaints and/or concerns of residents and sponsors with regard to dietary services.
15. To perform other related duties as assigned by the Administrator and/or Assistant Administrator.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
