Job description
Responsible for the allocation and completion of assigned functions for the surgical/instrument techs daily in the Central Sterile Department. Completed sterilization, assembles and packages specialty instrument trays for procedures to ensure all instruments are clean, decontaminated, and stocked to maintain a safe patient environment.
Monitors and tracks all instrumentation and equipment repairs
Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily. Monitors compliance with disinfection standards in the Ultrasound Department.
Completes monthly audits and reporting
Assists with training for Sterile Processing Technician to ensure staff is properly trained and coordinates orientation process of new employees.
Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with manufacturer's processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic unit, heat sealers and other departmental equipment according to manufacturer instructions during the decontamination/sterilization process.
Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent x preferred
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications
:IAHCSMM Certified Registered Central Service Technician within 1 year of hire
