• You must have a minimum of 1 year experience with trailer and chassis maintenance and repair.
• Advanced knowledge of the railroad industry from a vocational education institute or apprenticeship is preferred but not required, on the job training and/or similar work experience.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with a variety of individuals.
• Ability to listen, learn, take direction, make changes, and work alone or in a group environment.
• You must be able to pass drug test
• Pass a 7-year background check (no felonies in the last 7 years, no jail time in the last 5 years, and no pending charges. Any of these could result in being disqualified).

• This is a supervisorial role to oversee all gate clerks are properly recording damage on chassis coming into the railyard.
• Inspects all intermodal units upon arrival at the railyard.
• Identify any and all damage on units which may include; tires that are cut and torn, slid flat, retread cap that is separating, flat, blown out, bent rims, broken or bent legs, ICC bumpers, glad hands keepers, crossmembers, mounting brackets, etc.
• Responsible for overseeing and documenting any damage to arriving or departing units with timeliness and accuracy to the customer.
• Understanding the risk assessment and risk management process to help identify, evaluate, and manage potential risks.
• Maintains a quality environment where performance inspections are handled accurately, safely, and accident & injury-free.
• Ensures compliance is met under the HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations. This would include reporting any incidents to the supervisory immediately. Inspectors are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as safety vest, safety toe boots, and protective hard hat, when applicable.
• Be familiar with all intermodal units, while maintaining a safe distance from moving vehicles.
• Ensure clearances are met on all carriages of trailers and containers.
• Pick up debris in the inspection area to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Verify temperature settings on refrigerator units.
• Take photographs of outgoing container cargo on an as-needed basis.
• Responsible for completing all required paperwork for the customer accurately.
• Maintain company values, rules, policies, and procedures are met to fulfill the company mission, as well as productive relationships with customers and vendors.
• Responsible for special tasks requested by management and/or supervisor.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Required job duties are performed in outdoor environmental conditions, including rain, snow, ice, cold, heat, wind, dust, and fumes.
• The position may also be required to travel throughout the yard verifying chassis damage.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually frequent.
• The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast-moving equipment.
