Open Position:

We are currently hiring for a FT Caregiver/Activities Assistant in our Acacia Health Center! The positions runs 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday!

Our Care Givers/Med Techs are key members of our team who assist the licensed nursing staff and provide personal care to residents to enhance their quality of life. In addition to this, as the Activities Assistant you will assist and carry out scheduled group activities within assisted living and memory care neighborhoods as well!

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

Caregiver

  • Administer medications to residents
  • Help with activities that occur within the neighborhood
  • Document and support the levels of care performed and necessary to the overall care of the resident
  • Assists residents with dressing, grooming, eating, bathing, positioning, turning, toileting and exercising.
  • Transfers, transports and escorts residents as needed.
  • Changes bed linens, makes beds and keeps rooms clean and orderly.
  • Maintains safe and sanitary work stations and equipment.
  • Encourages independence, attendance at activities, restorative programs and rehabilitation.
  • Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
  • Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Activities Assistant

  • Assist with set up, leading/facilitating, and cleanup of scheduled activities (e.g. discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural events, religious services, special entertainment, off- campus outings, special events and one-on-one visits).
  • Safely transport residents to and from recreational activities.
  • Work with Activities Coordinators to ensure appropriate inventory of necessary supplies and equipment needed for scheduled activities.
  • Coordinate and encourage participation with other care staff driving successful and meaningful activities for the residents.
  • Provide training to volunteers as needed.
  • Attend in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Arizona Caregiver Certificate required.
  • Must hold a valid CPR Certification, First Aid Certification and be trained in AED procedures
  • Med Tech Certification preferred, must obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with residents, and have adequate reading skills to understand resident care plans and other applicable documentation
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively and perform simple arithmetic. Ability to document care given.
  • Must be able to work as a team with co-workers.
  • Must be able to accept direction, feedback, and constructive criticism from supervisors.
  • Education or experience with recreational activities, event planning or related preferred.
  • Physical fitness, ability to walk, dance, stand, lift, or meet other physical demands.
  • Adaptability and strong organization and time management skills.
  • Patience and compassion when dealing with others, especially those who are sick, injured, elderly, or from different backgrounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.50 per hour
