OVERVIEW: The Call Center Agent is responsible for answering our referral and information line in a 24/7 call center environment. The agent will connect callers in the Metro United Way (MUW) service area to essential health and human services from local agencies.
EMPLOYMENT NOTICE: This position is grant-funded and guaranteed for 6 months with monthly reviews of the program for continuation of the grant beyond that. In the event the grant ends, the Call Center Agent will receive a 90-day notice before their employment will end. Therefore, the Call Center Agent is guaranteed a minimum of 9 months of employment (6 months plus 90-day notice) with the potential for long-term employment based on program continuation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Answer calls and texts to our 211 line for our MUW service area, which includes Breckinridge, Bullitt, Carroll, Grayson, Hardin, Henry, Jefferson, Larue, Meade, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties in Indiana.
- Connect callers to essential health and human services from local agencies.
- Coordinate transportation to services for callers through Lyft and Ride United
- Provide callers with information on a variety of topics, including but not limited to:
- Supplemental food and nutrition programs
- Shelter and housing options and utilities assistance
- Emergency information and disaster relief
- Employment and education opportunities
- Services for veterans
- Health care, vaccination, and health epidemic information
- Addiction prevention and rehabilitation programs
- Re-entry assistance for ex-offenders
- Support groups for individuals with mental illnesses or special needs
- A safe, confidential path out of physical and/or emotional domestic abuse
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
Experience: Preferred but not required.
Compensation for the Call Center Agent role starts at $16.52/hr. Benefits include health insurance, dental and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, accident and critical illness insurance, and health savings and flexible savings accounts. Additionally, you will receive a generous paid time off (PTO) bank and will be eligible to contribute to a 401(k) plan that will include an agency match after 1 year.
