REPORTS TO: Bakery Manager
JOB SUMMARY: Decorates cakes and pastries to enhance visual appeal and sales, decorates special order cakes to individual customer’s satisfaction
QUALIFICATIONS
Journeyperson: 5 years of Commercial Baking Experience + Apprentice qualifications below.
Apprentice:
1. No employee shall pose a direct threat to the health or safety of self or others
2. Must be able to communicate pleasantly and efficiently with all customers, vendors and fellow employees, under all circumstances
3. Must be age 18 or older
4. Must be able to get along with others
5. Must demonstrate a friendly, outgoing approach to dealing with others
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. At all times provide pleasant and efficient customer service
2. Must decorate cakes in a creative and appealing manner
3. Must complete assigned duties on a daily basis
4. Must be able to communicate special orders to Baker, as appropriate
5. Must be able to work with customers when preparing special orders to clarify their specific needs
6. Must assure that merchandise is properly rotated
7. Must keep area clean and tidy at all times
8. Must demonstrate artistic talent for drawing and decorating
9. Must project and promote a positive attitude towards all personnel and all customers

JOB DUTIES
1. *Continually-Decorate stock items, such as pies, iced cakes, cream cakes and cupcakes, using a variety of colors/flavors to maximize sales
2. *Frequently-Clean work area to assure proper sanitation is maintained
3. *Frequently-Clean equipment and assure that it is in proper working order
4. *Frequently-Decorate cakes and other special order items requested by the customer
5. *Occasionally-Prepare icings and other products needed for decorating
6. *Occasionally-Prepare all items needed for weekly advertisement
7. *Occasionally-Work with customers to clarify their special order requests
8. *Occasionally-Assist Bakers and Salesperson as needed
9. *Occasionally-Organize Freezer
10. *Occasionally-Stock the freezers with finished items, rotating cakes and pastries as appropriate
11. *Rarely-Conduct cake decorating demonstrations
12. *Rarely-Maintain record of daily work and record the amount of products made and sold for each ad
13. *Rarely-Conduct a weekly inventory of Bakery/Decorator supplies on-hand
14. *Rarely-Order supplies, as necessary, and verify that quantities ordered are received and properly invoiced
