Position Purpose:
The Business Development Manager (B2B and outside sales) is primarily responsible for new member acquisition as well as enhancing Select Employee Group (SEG, a/k/a "bank at work") relationships and community relationships for First Northern Credit Union.
In this role, the Business Development Manager will foster the relationships of employees, community/civic leaders, members, and other centers of influence.
The Business Development Manager should have a sales-oriented personality and be prepared to take personal ownership of First Northern's new membership growth goals.
This position is primarily based in either Rockford and surrounding areas or the Chicago Loop, with oversight of all markets, managing one or two Business Development Representatives, and reporting to the Vice President of Financial Services.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Execute and manage outside sales and activities including but not limited to: SEG visits, table days, seminars/Webinars, and organizing community events and sponsorship opportunities
- Create and lead campaigns and events to support new membership and product penetration goals, ensuring that BD efforts are coordinated across appropriate markets, branches, SEGs, etc.
- Collect, cultivate, and enhance key contacts geared towards relationship development and management with each SEG and charter-based community
- Supervise planning and budgeting aspects of the Business Development Department
- Generate standardized tracking methodology for each activity
- Vendor management, including but not limited to: Ambassador or Web site portals (SmartSource Solutions), CRM (Salesforce), and financial wellness (BALANCE)
- Coordinate telemarketing efforts and direct ongoing outbound calling programs using appropriately generated call lists
A qualified candidate should have:
- Demonstrated sales ability to aggressively promote and acquire new accounts
- 3-5+ years of sales/business development/marketing experience
- Sales management experience is preferred
- Financial services experience is preferred; credit union experience is a plus
- Indirect vehicle lending and/or auto loan recapture experience is a plus
- Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent internal and external service skills
- Valid driver's license and auto insurance
- Reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel (80%+ outbound)
- Flexibility in schedule and willingness to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary, to total 40 hours or more per week as well as travel to events and branches.
