What does this position do?

Make a difference in Longhorn’s lives! You'll be responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area and dish room areas of a large scale commercial food service operation.

What are the job duties?

• Ensure that all food service sanitation practices, policies and procedures are followed. Assist with the processing of dishware, sort silverware, scrape and stack dishes. Clean dining area, kitchen, bathrooms, trash cans and remove trash from building and/or operate commercial cleaning equipment and/or dish machine.

• Assist in providing oversight and direction to the activities of building attendants/dish room attendants as assigned by the supervisor and/or leader. Respond and follow through with written and oral University and UHD policies.

• Ensure the completion of daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks. Ensure proper sanitation and safety techniques while maintaining an exceptional level of productivity in the area. Oversee use of chemicals, equipment and sanitation as well as proper maintenance and storage. Monitor proper inventory levels of chemicals and supplies.

• Maintain chemical room according to proper standard procedures; maintain closet for mops and brooms. Clean floor surface, including sweeping, mopping, spotting, wet extraction, stripping, and waxing, etc. Remove trash periodically throughout shift, clean and line trash cans for next shift.

• Assist in inspection of building for sanitary, fire safety, and maintenance needs. Report emergencies as well as needed repairs for building or equipment.

What qualifications do I need?

• Six months commercial cleaning experience

• Six months experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as commercial dish machines, carpet care or floor care equipment.

• Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food Safety Training and/or ServSafe throughout employment

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

What preferred qualifications could I have?

• One year or more commercial cleaning experience.

• One year or more experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as commercial dish machines, carpet care or floor care equipment.

• Experience working in a large dining service operation.

• Ability to multi task and work with little supervision.

• Professional demeanor and ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base.

What are the working conditions?

• Climbing of stairs
