Box Office Associate (Part-time)

Job Type: Part-time; non-merit Fairfax County position

The Alden, a 383-seat presenting theater located inside the McLean Community Center (an agency of Fairfax County), presents a full season of nationally and internationally touring acts in music, dance, film, children’s programming and more.

The Alden is seeking a part-time Box Office Associate to provide ticket and general information to patrons at the box office located in McLean Community Center.

Duties of the Box Office Cashier

• Processes ticket sales on computerized ticketing system. (AudienceView Professional)
• Disseminates information on all center activities, promoting upcoming performances via public contact.
• Responds to patron inquiries on ticket availability and upcoming programs.
• Extensive public contact in person and on the telephone.
• Able to count back change accurately, answer phones, field customer inquiries and problems.
• Experience with sales, receiving and accounting for cash/credit card sales and familiarity with general computer functions.
• Perform House Management duties, including the training and assigning of volunteer ushers for non-ticketed events.
• Additional general theatre, administrative and marketing duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications
Must be able to demonstrate strong customer service skills, possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, problem-solve, manage multiple tasks, respond quickly to patron needs and assist during emergencies. Experience in theater environment is a plus but is not necessary. Work hours are evenings and weekends.

Salary: $20 per hour, 10-15 hours per week.
