Position Summary:
African American Planning Commission, a non-profit organization, seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to join the organization's accounting team. The Bookkeeper is responsible for implementing and maintaining the organization's accounting system. The Bookkeeper is responsible for the day-to-day accounting
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of All Accounting Records through General Ledger
- Journal Entries
- Processing invoices,
- Bank account reconciliations and bank deposits.
- The bookkeeper also keeps records of assets and liabilities and assists with preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Perform other accounting functions, as required
Education/Training:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is preferred
Technical proficiency, including use of accounting software (Sage Quantum, QuickBooks, etc.) and web-based applications
Computer literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Professional Experience
At least 1 plus years previous nonprofit accounting experience Nonprofit background is a must
Ability to work independently, be a team player, maintain confidential information, multitask and follow-up with colleagues, customers/applicants, and supervisor
Strong customer services skill and attention to detail
Communication Skills
Excellent verbal, listening, analytical and written communications skills
Communicate in a positive, professional and effective manner with members of staff, upper management, and funding agencies to promote positive Agency outcomes
Answers inquiries accurately and in a timely manner
Organized and punctual
