Employment Options is hiring a bilingual Social Practitioner for our Compass Clubhouse in Fitchburg. We are a comprehensive “clubhouse” agency serving adults and families recovering from mental illnesses. Be part of a team providing support in employment, training, family unification, community integration, wellness, advocacy, and social activities in a dynamic community membership environment. This is a full time position, Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm with rotation of Saturdays, Holidays and Special Events.

This position requires experience working in Human Services and working with people in underrepresented groups. The ideal Social Practitioner will reflect the demographics of the population we serve and will bring open-mindedness, creativity and enthusiasm along with a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

The Social Practitioner engages members in meaningful work to aid in their recovery and works side-by-side with members to build relationships, while simultaneously helping them meet their recovery goals. The Practitioner creates and implements club work to engage members.

Required Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and motivation / engagement skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bilingual – English and Spanish, Portuguese or Sign Language.
  • Familiarity with Computers, Microsoft Office, phones and various office equipment including copiers & fax machine.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Primarily responsible for the organization and operation of one work unit. May be asked to help members anywhere in the club.
  • Must build positive relationships with members, and understand how to use relationships as a tool to promote growth and productivity during the members’ time at the clubhouse. Engage members through sincere passion, energy and investment in member recovery.
  • Actively participate in clubhouse meetings and activities. Will lead group meetings or discussions either as part of their schedule or as needed. For example, each day starts with a morning meeting that is ideally co-lead by a member and staff.
  • Responsible for creating meaningful work within their unit, in conjunction with members and fellow staff, as part of a team.
  • Actively works as part of a greater team. Able to communicate their needs effectively to their peers, as well as responding to the requests of other members of the team. Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate requests and needs to other units in a manner that promotes teamwork and the recovery of members in that unit.
  • Willing to learn and implement clubhouse standards into their everyday work to promote wellness and recovery as a tool towards greater independence.
  • Must be prepared to provide on-site support to members in work environments.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring the progress of members’ treatment goals and objectives.
  • Provides offsite support to members during events designed to enhance community integration.
  • Successful candidate must possess a valid MA driver's license, a clean driving record and be comfortable driving a small passenger van/bus for social outings and transportation coverage.

Additionally, we are offering a $1500 signing bonus for this position; one-half to be paid after 30 days employment and the balance at the completion of 90 days.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
