Recovery Support Specialist (Behavioral Health Technician)
Part-Time, Non-Exempt
DCCCA is looking for Recovery Support Specialists (Behavioral Health Technicians) to serve at our First Step at Lake View facility. Recovery Support Specialists serve an integral role in clients’ substance abuse recovery. Successful candidates provide a safe and structured environment for clients. We are looking for individuals that are compassionate, relate well with others while upholding strong boundaries, provide consistency, and anticipate needs of the team. First Step at Lake View offers substance abuse treatment designed to meet the unique needs of women, pregnant women, and women with dependent children. Treatment interventions include non-medical detox, short-term residential treatment, intensive outpatient services with or without supportive housing, outpatient counseling and primary healthcare collaboration. As a licensed childcare provider, Lake View offers an environment in which parenting, case management, and mental health services are integrated into the holistic treatment program. First Step at Lake View provides a quiet campus setting with large areas of green space and relaxing views from all areas of the grounds and a high-quality children’s playground. Outpatient substance abuse or mental health counseling are offered via tele-health technology or in office sessions.
Essential Functions of the Recovery Support Specialist:
- Creates a safe client environment by performing all required security and safety procedures
- Assists in the client’s orientation of treatment goals, program rules and structure
- Submits a written incident report in the event of unusual client behavior or activity while in DCCCA’s care
- Assesses and resolves minor incidents during weekend and evening hours when daytime staff is unavailable
- Documents required program and client information in a timely and complete manner
- Monitors client’s weekly schedule and adherence to policies and procedures related to facility/equipment usage
- Supports Counselors and other treatment providers with the coordination and implementation of client services from admission through discharge
- Supervises client performance, enforces program rules and applies the prescribed consequences for misbehavior
Qualifications of the Recovery Support Specialist:
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- One year of related experience, preferred.
- Ability to gain knowledge of and apply basic understanding of the treatment model utilized.
Applicants must pass a drug screening and background screening.
