Associate Roles and Responsibilities

JOB TITLE: Bartender

JOB STATUS: FT/PT.

Pay: $7.00 per hour ($40-50/hr with tips)

REPORTS TO: Bar Manager/Sommelier

POSITION SUMMARY

Bartenders will provide the highest quality guest experience through friendly

knowledgeable service; will guide diners through their meal, anticipating needs, making the

guest feel comfortable and welcome; will be passionate about food and beverage and

will be friendly, outgoing and able to read a table. Bartenders will also be creative and

innovative with input for new menus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Upon greeting guests, welcome them into our space, through information regarding concept and stories
• Provide superior service to all guests, through close adherence to steps of service, attention to detail and personal involvement with the guest experience
• Present professionalism at all times in manor and appearance, relating to UH dress and grooming standards
• Perform shift opening & closing checklist; maintain cleanliness of bar area
• Comprehensive knowledge of current menus and products through training opportunities for continued learning
• Bring immediate attention to substandard quality of service or food
• Adhere to sanitation and safety policies and ensure that all service is in compliance with Utah alcohol laws
• Coordinate and communicate proactively with all associates
• Detail oriented control of all procedures involving guest orders, cash procedures, POS system, guest checks and bar close out
• Complete closing duty checklist and weekly checklist items. Support bar staff in any other tasks that require completion or are asked by a manager
• Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for bar patrons and restaurant patrons
• Connect with customers while anticipating their needs
• Clear product knowledge (including wine, beer liquor, food)
• Ability to create classic and innovative cocktails while using correct techniques and recipes

CREDENTIAL AND EXPERIENCE

• Possess a High School Diploma
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have a basic knowledge of bar service procedures and functions
• Possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point- of-sale system
• Knowledge of relevant health & safety regulations & procedures
• Food handlers & beverage service permits

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to bend, lift, push & carry heavy objects
• Ability to carry 50 pounds, demonstrating single-hand tray service proficiency
