SUMMARY

Provides efficient and courteous service while delivering drink requests to our guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Prepares drink orders for guest and/or servers serving guest.

· Complete bar set-up and be posted behind service bar a minimum 15 minutes prior to start time.

· Handles cash transactions during non-hosted bars.

· Is responsible for the accountability of all monies handled for one self’s bar.

· Picks up assigned accurate liquor from security as specified on Banquet event order.

· Ices down beer and wine with a minimum one hour prior to start time.

· Sets up a jockey box when a keg is requested on the B.E.O.

· Handles on jockey box must reflect beer being used.

· Acquires glassware and places on bar table/counter.

· Prepares all condiments such as sliced limes, lemon peels, cherries, onions etc.

· Ensures that bar is equipped with all necessary tools i.e. strainer, scoop, shot glass etc. A B.E.O. may require a blender to prepare margaritas.

· Must have supervisor or manager to read out the register before and after the start and conclusion of each banquet bar is responsible for dropping monies collected from bar transactions at the end of all events the night in the designated safe.

· Starting bank must be returned to the supervisor who provides the money.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

· Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

· Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

· Must have or be able to obtain Riverside County Food Handlers Card

Physical Qualifications:

§ Bartenders should be able to carry 15 to 20 pounds on a tray.

§ Bartenders should be able to lift 40 pounds.

§ Bartender should be able to carry trays long distances with complete balance.

§ Bartenders must be able to stand without leaning for their entire shift with the exception of when they take their meal and break periods.

§ Bartenders should be able to walk through heavy traffic from the kitchen to the dining room and lounge; for example: Runner has 8 plates with hot food on a tray; another server is bringing out a tray full of product, etc.

§ May come into contact with fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Regularly works in a warm environment being exposed to high heat and/or flames.

§ Regularly works with or near large equipment such as ovens, mixers, refrigeration system, etc. Occasionally works outdoors

Additional Information :

§ Ability to write and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties

§ Basic math skills required

§ Problem solving, reasoning and “thinking out of the box” will be a constant requirement, in addition, applying common sense understanding to better serve our guests’ needs – both our internal and external guests.

§ Regularly uses close, distance, color and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.

§ Bartenders are just as responsible as bussers in maintaining a clean table; for example: replacing silver ware, clearing plates and re-filling drinks.
